ANJA
Guide
Born to an ethnically mixed couple in old Yugoslavia, Anya decided at 17 that it was high time to spread her wings and put to good use all those languages and cultural nuances she picked up along the way (thank you Mom and Dad!) and to choose a place to finally settle down, a place that even she can never get bored of. So naturally, after thinking it through very carefully (as teenagers are prone to) for a span of a week, the choice landed on Paris- the most beautiful city she had ever seen, the place that promised (and delivered) fantastic food, great art and interesting people. A couple of years at the Sorbonne studying Art History, History and Cultural Management helped her find her footing on the cobblestones and back allies of the City of Lights, exploring art galleries and auctions houses in the daytime, spending Fridays afternoons at the Louvre and hotspot bars and music venues at night. In between eating her way through the different neighbourhoods of the city, she managed visual artists and fine art exhibits until she understood that soon enough she will need to halt her constant movement and confine herself to an office job inside a gallery, fated to never have enough time for meaningful interactions with the people passing by, always planning the next vernissage instead of enjoying the beautiful art in front of her and eating the same food from the bakery around the corner. Luckly, that was not going to happen to your girl and through a friend, she got her first tour in 2013 and has not stopped talking, walking and helping others explore the magnificence of the place she has the privilege to call home. As a licenced guide from the Ministry of Culture and armed with her knowledge of French, English and Spanish (and a wee bit of German) she gets to spend her time going from the palace of the Louvre to the palace of Versailles and anywhere in between, always grabbing the opportunity to test out the newly opened food joint she spotted earlier that week and giving you as much conversation as you can handle when you are visiting Paris with her.
